What is “Roleplay”?
Roleplay, which is commonly abbreviated as “RP” is acting as a fictional character of your choice and acting as in real life. There is also something called “Non-RP”, which is basically doing something that is not roleplay and also unrealistic.
A few abbriviations and also things you shouldn’t do in RP
OOC:
OOC is an abbreviation of “Out of character”. This means, hence the name, out of character, this is things such as: “brb”, “lol”, “omg my mum keeps shouting at me”, so in other words, things that are not relevant to the character you have created. When you are talking OOC you are saying stuff that is relevant to the real world. To talk in OOC simply get the chat box up (by pressing “T” on your keyboard) and typing /b and then your text. To tell if something is OOC or not, just simply look for brackets like the following:
(( Do you see? The text is wrapped up in brackets. ))
IC:
IC is an abbreviation of “In character”. It is the opposite of OOC. It is basically things that are relevant to your character. To talk ICly you just press “T” on your keyboard, and you do NOT type in /b at all. You can also describe the actions of your character by bringing the chat box up and by typing /me and then the text. For example; /me coughs. Or, /me falls to the ground, and clenches his stomach. There is also a command called /do, which is describing what is currently happening. For example: /do is carrying his backpack, or /do The car radio is on, ETC.
Metagaming:
Metagaming means using OOC information IC. For example, reading someone’s nametag on the top of their head, and saying ICly “Hello Daniel” when you do not even know his name by finding out ICly. Metagaming is also talking in the wrong chats. For example, saying: “hello man, u haven’t been on the server for a while lol”, ICly. Or saying “hey man, wanna buy some of my drugs? Its cheap man.”, OOCly. Another example of Metagaming is: Someone is RPing with someone, and then one of them does /me gets his Desert Eagle out of his holster and then the other person runs away, even though he did not actually see the gun, he just read the /me.
Powergaming:
Powergaming means forcing actions on someone, or not letting someone RP properly. For example /me punches Daniel in the face and Daniel falls to the ground. This is called powergaming. It's also NON-RP /me's like /me flies away like super man, or /me kills all the world with his big smelly toe.
RKing:
RKing means “Revenge Killing”, which basically means when someone RPly kills you; and you kill them back, which is non RP, because you do not remember who killed you. After being killed you loose your memory RPly.
Bunnyhopping:
Bunnyhopping is constantly pressing the jumping key on your keyboard to get to a destination faster and/or avoiding bullets or something, you should not do this because it is non-RP.
/Reporting
/report is a command to report another player for example, non RPly driving away from a crash, or DM, or metagaming, or powergaming, ETC.
The command should be used in the following way:
/report ID 127 powergaming kidnap
Or
/report ID 5 dming me
The command should not be used like:
/report ID 127 NON RP KIDNAP FFS BAN HIM U NUMPTIES
Or
/report ID 5 BAN HIM HE IS DMING ME OMG
You should speak calmly and sensibly in /report, regardless of how annoyed you are.
Thanks for reading, I hope this might be useful, I spent much more effort into this than the old guide
